I an effort to support such worthy charities as the Excellence in Education Foundation and the Tahoe Forest Hospital Foundation Squaw Valley USA is hosting the Community Benefit Day on December 17th and offering a $35 voucher that can be exchanged for a lift ticket.

“[Squaw Valley USA] December 12, 2006- Squaw Valley USA hosts Community Benefit Day on December 17, 2006. Skiers and snowboarders can pre-purchase a $35 Community Benefit Day donation voucher that is valid for an adult lift ticket and ice skating session on Sunday, December 17. All proceeds from the online sale of the vouchers benefit the Excellence in Education Foundation and the Tahoe Forest Hospital Foundation. Community Benefit Day lift tickets are available now at http://www.squawshop.com. Since 1991, Squaw Valley has donated over $200,000 to local education programs through the Excellence in Education Foundation. The Excellence in Education Foundation organizes a number of fundraising efforts to benefit the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. Each year the foundation raises in excess of $100,000 which is used for endowments, and grants to benefit students, teachers and the Kindergarten through 12th Grade educational community as a whole.

Squaw Valley USA is also committed to supporting the Tahoe Forest Hospital Foundation, a non-profit corporation organized to meet the needs of the Tahoe Forest Hospital. Through charitable donations, the Foundation provides new equipment, expansion of hospital facilities and support of quality health care services. Thanks to last year’s Community Benefit Day participants, Squaw Valley Ski Corp has already donated thousands of dollars toward the hospital’s current expansion goals.

Each Community Benefit Day voucher is valid for one adult all day lift ticket and a two-hour ice skating session at the Olympic Ice Pavilion on Sunday, December 17, 2006. Only 1,000 vouchers are available and can only be pre-purchased online. Community Benefit Day lift tickets can be redeemed at Ticket Booth D (near the ski school offices at the base of the Funitel) after 8 am on Sunday, Dec. 17th. Lift tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable, even in the event of inclement weather or operation changes.
