The guys over at Freeskier Magazine have started a ski related wiki. Just like the internet success wikipedia their’s asks readers to write the content… better yet they have divided the site into two setions; “The Resort Guide” and “The Pro Skier Guide”. Here’s how they describe them:
The Pro Skier Guide
“Everyone knows something about everyone in our industry, so we’re presenting you the opportunity to fill everyone in on the latest and greatest, insider scoop on all the athletes you know and love. Head on over to the Athletes Guide and give your two cents on athlete film parts, best tricks and even Myspace pages.”
The Resort Guide:
“As the staff of a ski magazine, we’re lucky to have the opportunity to get first-hand experiences at many of the finest ski areas on the planet, but everywhere we go, we turn straight to the locals for the straight dope: the best tour of the terrain, the places to eat and drink, the scams to save some money, etc.
Since the tens of thousands of readers of this magazine have more combined knowledge of the ins and outs of ski resorts than any editor could ever cram into his head, we thought we’d turn it over to you. This is a resort guide of the people, by the people, for the people.”
We are a big fan of this model, namely, separating out ski related content from the rest of the internet. Seeing the need to give Squaw skiers a place with quality info that doesn’t offer hotel reservations, ticket discounts and gear clearance sales was our motivation to start UnofficialSquaw.com and similarly getting movie links, hotel pages and link sites out of our google searches was the reason we started Gskier.com.
So head over to Snowpedia’s Squaw Valley page and take a look around. Hopefully you’ll like what you see, if not just change it… that’s the beauty behind the community system.
While your at it:
- Check out what I mean by visiting Wikipedia’s Squaw Valley Page and Snowpedia’s side-by-side
- Try searching “Squaw Valley” on both Google and Gskier
- Click “edit” on the top of Snowpedia’s Squaw page and add your knowledge
- Help out our community by signing up for our Talk Board, where you can comment freely.

I was wondering what some of the more mature members here do about dating. It seems much harder for older singles to find a mate, so I might be turning to online dating for older singles.
any suggestions? thanks.
