Wildfire Snowsports Limited, a company formed out of the University of Sheffield in England, has developed a device that continuously applies fresh wax to skis while skiing. The system works by filling a reservoir of wax which is kept in container that looks much like a lifter plate. From this container a series of tiny valves and tubes continuously deliver wax to the bottom of the ski. The movement of the skier drives the wax through the tubes and down to the base. The system could be ready by the start of the 2008/2009 World Cup season.
