Here is what the Famers Almanac is calling for the 2007/2008 Winter.
“For the western half of the country - mainly those areas west of the Mississippi – the overall winter will be milder than normal, with near or below normal precipitation. Quite a change from last year, when cold and stormy weather came blasting.”

I am fairly sure that goes directly against what NOAA has to say.
Well, at lest for the PNW.

Another dry year for Tahoe? That would suck!

We live in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan and we desparetely need snow this winter. We own a small hotel and had many cancellations because of lack of snow last year. The majority of our business is in the winter with snowmobilers and skiers. I hope that this forcast is correct. I will be praying for snow! Our “normal” winters usually give us between 8 and 10 feet of snow up here in the U.P..

it’s always warm in the northeast!! I know a little about the weather since Ive lived here for years…. when one winter gets warm and dry the next winter is usually cold and snowy…….. but it’s bin so warm like for the past 3 winters……. they are predicting a warmer than average winter… but there was already a sine of snow……..

This is against what the NOAA says. Perhaps they are right about the Tahoe area (I hope not) but the rest of the country is way off. This winter is setting up to be a la nina which would make the south east warm and dry.

well, we already seen some snow in NJ… after the 3rd week of December temperatures are most likely going to rise!! but around chistmas there going to drop back down again!! I would say it should be a normal winter with equal amounts of snow for the season…. but the only problem is that temperatures keep on fluxuating… if this keeps happening it will mess up everything and we wont see that much snow! also if the major snow storms go to the other side of the country just like last winter but Id still say we have much better chances of seeing snow this winter than last up to 70% this December! lets pray for snow lol…
12 Hex_weather121 // Dec 2, 2007 at 10:39 am
we haven’t seen a white chistmas since 2002… that was the year that we had around 2 feet of snow in the norteast…. the famers seem to be predicting a snowy winter for the northeast…. this year…. were really expecting the biggest storms this year to hit around January…. it takes about 7 years for us to see a major winter just like we had in 1996 and 2003.
most say it’s going to be warm…. but if you look back in the winter 2002-2003 they weren’t expecting a lot of snow at all.. and we had more than 2 feet of snow in the northeast and it was the snowiest winter since the winter of 1995-1996…. take care now I’ll keep searching and have the latest updates for you all bye now…..

I have some bad news for u all, unfortunly were looking at another mild and below snow fall for this upcoming winter!!! of course we still have better chances of seeing snow this winter than last, but once again temperatures contunie to go up and down, that messes things up and some winters were only suppost to see snow not rain but looks like were gonna get both!!

Dude, thats saying this is going to be the 3rd winter in a row with below snowfall!!! 2007-2008 winter is looking like I don’t know how to explain it just mild but were still gonna get hit with some cold air the exciting part is that Dec bin so wet but it just wasn’t cold enough to support snow but maybe this January we could see some

Farmer’s Almanac–mild for West Coast? Yeah, right in your dreams. The snow outside looks surreal and I live at Lake Level. Snow plow trucks haven’t come by all day. No mail. Dogs can jump the fences. Folks are ontop of their roofs shoveling snow. This SUCKS. Cabin Fever to the max.

BTW: I live on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. And, I’m predicting more snow, more rain, and flooding for NoCA by spring. Count on it. Is there time to patch up SAC’s creaky levees?

We’re finishing the winter with almost nothing, it’s been months already and all I seen was a little snow. I guess this still wasn’t the winter I was waiting for, but don’t worry eventually soon we’ll have another good winter! This one just doest seem to be it.

Well, here in eastern Iowa, winter has been long and hard. Snow and freezing temperatures since the beginning of December, and record snowfalls in early February. I’m looking outside my window, the snow is still piled up about 3′ deep on the roadsides, as it hasn’t gotten above 35 degrees since the snow originally fell. This is the longest, coldest and snowiest winter I can remember in Iowa.

I’m with luke… from eastern iowa too…. LONGEST COLDEST and SNOWIEST winter.. and keeps on commin….. we just got a storm right when he submitted and tomorrow we are getting another… we have had consistant blizzards once a week since just before christmas! I really wonder when it will be nice again!
I hope soon.

In Omaha it’s been one of the consistent cold winters in recent memory, we normally will get a January thaw…not this year… we’ve been lucky to get to 40 degrees since December 6, I hate it come on SPRING, darn groundhog!!!
